Thanks to Dave F again. At least I spotted Paris-Nice before anyone emailed me (details coming right up).

Trofeo Laigueglia on RAI Sports Più, Sat, 21 Feb 2009, 2000-2045 CET
Giro di Sardegna on RAI Sports Più, Tue, 24 Feb 2009, 1715-1900 CET
See The RAI TV Guide.
Thanks to Bernie S and Dave F for the tip-offs. Please leave a comment if you see these races on free TV elsewhere!
The Tour of California, created in 2006, rivals the Tour of Georgia as the top US cycling race. The increased interest this year is driven by its position on Lance Armstrong’s comeback trail.
Eurosport (FTA at 19e) is covering this race for the first time in 2009. Listing magazines disagree on the exact show times, but coverage usually seems to start after 23:00 CET, with some highlights shows around 14:00 or 15:00 CET the following day.
Have you seen coverage on other channels? Let me know in the comments, please.
Challenge Majorca from Sunday 8 February to Thursday 12 February is on Direct 8 (13e and 19e) and IB Sat (30w).
Thanks to BernieS for the pointers – Direct8 popped up on my usual French cycling coverage monitor but I don’t have a good one for Spain.
Just as a side note, both channels have internet video streams that actually play on my GNU/Linux-based TV viewer. Several others never have. I’ll probably watch over satellite still, but will 2009 be the year that online video channels get their heads in gear and stop messing it up with Internet-Explorer-only Javascript+Flash rubbish?
It’s the start of the 2009 live free TV coverage and while we’re freezing our backsides off here in northern Europe, the pro cyclists are off in the middle east for the ASO-linked Tour of Qatar.
Eurosport has a mixture of live and recorded coverage at 19e (digital in German, analogue with German and English audio), with coverage starting at 12:30 on Monday, 14:30 Tuesday, 12:30 Wednesday, then 13:00 Thursday and Friday. All times CET.
More coverage is over on CyclingFans.com (but if you’re watching highlights on Eurosport, you may want to take care what you read!)
And now, the end is near… Saturday’s Tour of Lombardy is the last major classic of the season. It will be shown on RAI Tre (13e) from 1555 CET and Eurosport Germany (19e) from 1515 CET, with highlights at 1000 and 1315 CET on Monday.
I expect the earlier parts to be on RAI Sport Piu and other free-to-air satellite channels too – leave a comment if you spot them, please!
The penultimate big pro race is today. See the main cyclingfans page for a detailed preview of the long hike south-west, then watch it on:-
Eurosport Germany (19e) from 1515 CET, with highlights 1030 CET tomorrow.
France 3 (5w) also from 1515 CET.
RAI Tre (13e) joins coverage at 1530 CET. (More cycling on RAI Sport Piu today with Giro Dell’emilia 1705-1730 and Gran Premio Beghelli 1915-1950 CET.)
Any more coverage spotted?
The UCI’s top event is on this week in Varese, Italy and is covered all over the shop. Men’s U23 Individual Time Trial is on Tuesday, Women’s ITT on Wednesday, Men’s ITT on Thursday, Men’s U23 Race on Friday, Women’s Race on Saturday and Men’s Race on Sunday.
English-language coverage is on BBCi and BBC-2, free-to-air at 28e and also online, but don’t include the U23 races. Shows are Wednesday 1300-1600, Thursday 1200-1630, Saturday 1200-1545 and Sunday 0930-1630 all BST. BBC Two highlights ahows are on Saturday and Sunday 1800-1900 BST.
German-language coverage on Eurosport (free-to-air at 19e, also in English on analogue) is probably the most comprehensive. Shows are on Wednesday 0045, 0830, 1230, 1400 (live), 1815, Thursday 0030, 1145, 1300 (live), Friday 0030, 1300 (live), 2345, Saturday 1300 (live), Sunday 1030 (live) all CET.
French-language coverage is on France 3, free-to-air at 5W, with shows at Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday at 1500 CET.
Italian-language coverage is on RAI Tre and RAI Sport piu, usually FTA at 13e, at similar times to France 3.
Also on 13e, SLO2 has coverage on Thursday, Friday and Sunday at 1500 CET.
So of the major European languages, Spanish is the only one I’ve not found…
What with all the other racing, I missed that the Tour of Poland is on TVP Polonia (free-to-air at 7e, 13e and 19e) most days from 1515-1700 or thereabouts. See TVP’s website for listings.
I’m still busy watching the Vuelta, but Bernie S wrote in: “RTBF Sat again. GP Wallonie, with another programme in the middle it would appear.”
So that’s on RTBF Sat (free-to-air at 19e) Wed 17 Sep 2008, 1445-1735 CET. (Source)
I’m not sure whether I’ve watched any RTBF coverage for a few months. It’ll be interesting to see how it looks/feels after watching the Tour of Britain.
